Ballun (River) reflects the living movement of water on Country, tracing the eddies, flows, and tributaries that gather and converge. Through weaving, these rhythms become a metaphor for the deep relationships between People and Country, revealing how our individual and collective well‑being is bound to the vitality of our waterways.

Artwork - Ballun (River), Artist - Desert-Rain Magpie: This weaving was commissioned for the exhibition Aqua Limina held at Hand Bent Banana in April 2026. It represents the Tallebudgera Creek and its winding journey through the landscape from the mountains to the sea.

Testimonial

"There’s something incredibly energising about being able to discuss art, nature, observation, community, science, and possibility with someone who truly understands the deeper layers of creative practice and experience-building... I genuinely left feeling inspired, expanded, and very excited about what we may be able to create together at Hand Bent Banana." - Juniper
