Cultivating Access, Connection and Belonging

Everyone is welcome to experience creativity, nature and connection.

Inclusion & Access

As a living landscape, access and inclusion take different forms across our property. We cultivate access with care while respecting the character of the landscape. Our studios, gallery spaces and amenities provide step-free access and inclusive facilities, while some nature trails and outdoor areas retain their natural character, with uneven ground, slopes and seasonal conditions.

So you can plan a visit that truly works for you, review the breakdowns below.

Our Inclusion Spectrum

We are committed to actively working to remove barriers to accessibility for artists, volunteers, staff and guests. The Inclusion Spectrum Framework is used to assist inclusive design, programs and opportunities at Hand Bent Banana and options for all people to experience creative wild experiences.

As a 20-acre property set within the natural landscape of the Tallebudgera Valley, we balance accessibility with environmental care and the protection of the land. While many of our creative spaces and facilities are accessible, some outdoor areas remain rustic and naturally uneven.

Exploring the Property

Many of our walking paths and outdoor gathering spaces are suitable for families with prams, people using walking aids, and visitors who are comfortable navigating compacted natural surfaces.

Our paths are made from natural materials that blend with the surrounding environment rather than concrete. Throughout the gardens and creative spaces, plants with distinctive textures, colours and seasonal scents help visitors connect with and navigate the landscape.

Assistance Animals

Certified guide dogs and assistance animals are warmly welcomed at Hand Bent Banana. Water bowls and rest areas are available near our central gathering spaces.

Sensory Environment

Hand Bent Banana is a peaceful rural setting surrounded by forest, gardens and waterways.

For visitors seeking a quieter experience, there are a number of calm outdoor spaces throughout the property where you can pause, rest and reconnect with nature
