KEVIN WHITE
“The universe is held together by sound.”
Kevin White is an artist, marionettiste, musician and sound engineer. Throughout his career Kevin has maintained a rigorous experimental practice using recycled materials, including deconstructed pianos, horns and kitchen sinks, to explore the physical visualisation of sound. A foundational member of Splinters Theatre Company in Canberra, Kevin contributed to large-scale spectaculars that blended pyrotechnics, sculpture, and musical performances. Over two decades at Sydney Theatre Company, Whitey managed sound installations for local and international acts before relocating to Tallebudgera Valley.
Kevin’s practice is an exploration of cymatics—the physical representation of sound through a medium. Inspired by the physics of resonance, Kevin believes sound is the invisible force holding the universe together. In this installation, he utilises water as a primary collaborator, treating it as a sophisticated, three-dimensional canvas for frequency.
